A few years ago, Honor Defense pistols made quite a splash with the very modular 9mm Honor Guard. These well-made pistols came with a lot of options for shooters to consider, such as barrel and slide length, manual safety and even a frame with an extended rail for CQB.
Then, Honor Defense started offering different colored frames and custom-painted slides, many of which feature patriotic scenes with the American flag. This includes slides named 1776 Winter White and Old Glory Cerekote. In fact, buyers can actually choose the frame, slide and features they desire. The company claims it offers 900 possible variations from which to choose. Now, the company has introduced a new slide featuring Mossy Oak OVERWATCH camouflage.
Since, OVERWATCH is the Official Camouflage Pattern of the NRA, Honor Defense is featuring this gun at 148th NRA Annual Meetings at the Indiana Convention Center. Folks can view it both at the Mossy Oak and Honor Defense booths.
Honor Guard Features
Based in Georgia, Honor Defense uses only parts and material manufactured in America. Its pistols are also assembled by veterans. The Honor Guard comes in three basic models — Subcompact, Long Slide and Subcompact with FIST. All three feature ambidextrous magazine release and slide catch. These guns also come with two magazines — one 7 round and one 8 round — two interchangeable backstraps for proper hand fit. Additionally, shooters can choose to add an ambidextrous manual safety to two models. The Subcompact FIST (Firearm with Integrated Standoff) does not come with that option.
The idea behind the FIST, which is an extended bottom rail designed for close quarters battle, came from one of the company’s product advisors. The FIST keeps the gun in battery even when pressed against the target.
With its excellent trigger and numerous features, along with its custom colors and slides, the Honor Guard looks as good on the hip and it performs in the field.
